Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Office of Tourism are inviting residents to explore every corner of the state through a new Louisiana Staycation Campaign.
The campaign encourages Louisianans to discover destinations, attractions, restaurants, festivals, outdoor adventures and hidden gems close to home.
Louisiana Staycation also serves as a personal invitation from Lieutenant Governor Nungesser for residents to experience parts of Louisiana they may have never visited before.
“Louisiana is filled with incredible destinations, rich culture, unforgettable food and unique experiences that many have yet to discover,” said Lieutenant Governor Nungesser. “Whether it’s a weekend getaway to a charming small town, an outdoor adventure in one of our state parks or a visit to a museum, festival or historic site, I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to experience something new, support local businesses and help strengthen communities across our state.”
The Louisiana Staycation Campaign launched June 22 and will run through Labor Day (September 7, 2026), capitalizing on peak summer travel months for families and leisure travelers. Statewide advertising placements include radio, social media, broadcast television, cable and newspaper.
The campaign also targets nearby drive markets within approximately 150 miles of the state, including Biloxi, Gulfport, and Natchez, Mississippi; and Beaumont, Texas.
“Travel trends indicate people are looking for affordable, convenient vacations offering authentic experiences,” said Assistant Secretary of Tourism Doug Bourgeois. “We expect this campaign to inspire residents and nearby visitors to take more regional trips and help spread the economic benefits of tourism throughout the state.”
The campaign aligns with national travel trends. According to the U.S. Travel Association, travelers are increasingly shifting toward shorter-duration and lower-cost trips. Longwoods International research found that 41% of travelers planning a trip within the next six months are choosing destinations closer to home.
