The TMC is adding DB content and UK split ticketing through its Tripsource AI platform, as part of a wider expansion of rail options that will include the forthcoming introduction of SNCB and NS International services for the Benelux region in July.
Buying split tickets, instead of return journeys, for UK rail services accounts for around 35 per cent of train bookings, according to BCD, with an average saving of £21.50 per trip.
Michèle Lawley, BCD’s president of Europe, said: “We’ve built a modern, scalable, customer-centric rail offering that aligns with how our customers want to shop, book and manage their journeys either online or offline, while also enabling more sustainable travel choices.
“It required long-term investments in our open platform, partnerships and experience that bring it all together.”
BCD also plans to add more DB capabilities through its direct connection with the train operator. The TMC already offers UK rail content, as well as SNCF in France and SBB in Switzerland, with Tripsource also providing rail boarding passes directly in the app.
Last month, BCD announced that it had developed a Model Context Protocol (MCP) framework across its Tripsource platform, which will allow the expansion of agentic AI capabilities across the company.
