Minor Hotels reports strong Q1 2026 performance

Minor Hotels reported strong operating performance during the first quarter of 2026, supported by premium travel demand and continued rate growth across its global portfolio.

The group recorded a 7% year-on-year increase in average daily rate (ADR), while revenue per available room (RevPAR) rose by 6%. Occupancy remained broadly stable at 64% across the system during what is traditionally a softer first quarter in Europe.

The company stated that performance was supported by continued demand across its premium and luxury brands, with travellers continuing to prioritise established brands and higher-end experiences.

The Maldives recorded ADR growth of 12% year-on-year and RevPAR growth of 11% across the group’s nine resorts in the destination.

Thailand also reported strong performance, with both ADR and RevPAR increasing 10% year-on-year. RevPAR at Anantara-branded properties in Thailand rose by 23% compared with the same period last year.

In Europe & Americas, ADR increased by 6% and RevPAR rose by 7% despite the seasonally weaker trading quarter.

Middle East & Africa occupancy declined by seven percentage points year-on-year due to the impact of regional conflict, while other operating regions remained stable.

System-wide core revenue reached THB 30.4 billion during the quarter, representing a 6% year-on-year increase. Core EBITDA rose 1% compared with the same period in 2025.

Total system sales increased 4% year-on-year during the first quarter, or 3% on a like-for-like basis.

Despite revenue growth, the group reported a core loss of THB 631 million for the quarter, an increase of THB 138 million year-on-year. According to the company, this was mainly due to renovation works at flagship properties including Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and unrealised foreign exchange impacts.

Minor Hotels continued expanding its asset-light portfolio during the quarter, opening four managed properties with a total of 589 keys across Thailand, Oman, Croatia and Slovenia.

The company also signed additional projects in the United States, Thailand, India and Tanzania, while further expanding its presence in Australia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Ghana and Italy.

During the quarter, the group accelerated the rollout of four new brands: The Wolseley Hotels, Minor Reserve Collection, Colbert Collection and iStay.

Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels, said: “What continues to stand out is the resilience of demand for trusted premium brands, even against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty. This is particularly benefiting destinations and brands with strong positioning and differentiated experiences. At the same time, we remain focused on positioning the business for long-term growth through asset-light expansion and the continued development of digital and AI capabilities that will strengthen how we engage with guests throughout their journey.”

The company also continued developing its global data and AI platform in partnership with Salesforce, Google Cloud, OneTrust and Deloitte. The platform is scheduled for deployment during 2026 and is intended to support guest personalisation, direct engagement and commercial operations.

Minor Hotels stated that it remains focused on long-term expansion through a combination of owned and asset-light growth, while continuing investments in technology and brand development.

The company added that forward booking trends remain positive across several core regions, particularly in Europe and luxury destinations, despite continued geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty.
