An agreement was signed on May 27 during Inha University Hospital’s 30th-anniversary celebration at the Grand Hyatt Incheon. The event was attended by Walter Cho, Chairman and CEO of Hanjin Group and Korean Air; Jeffrey Jones, President of RMHC Korea; and Taek Lee, President and CEO of Inha University Medical Center.
Under the agreement, Korean Air will provide the land for the facility, RMHC Korea will oversee its construction and operations, and Inha University Hospital will support medical coordination and facility maintenance.
"Inha University Hospital was founded by Choong-hoon Cho, founder of Hanjin Group, with a vision to advance regional healthcare and give back to society," said Walter Cho. "In line with this founding philosophy, Korean Air is honored to provide the site for the Ronald McDonald House and support families in our local community."
“With the establishment of the Ronald McDonald House, I hope Inha University Hospital will continue to strengthen its role as one of Korea’s leading medical institutions, supported by an advanced integrated treatment system and dedicated facilities for patients' families," Cho added.
The Ronald McDonald House will provide free accommodation for families and guardians of pediatric patients requiring extended hospitalization or outpatient care. More than a place to stay, the facility will help families remain close during treatment while easing emotional and financial burdens. Studies and reports have shown that Ronald McDonald Houses help improve treatment outcomes by reducing stress on patients and their families.
RMHC is a global nonprofit dedicated to children’s welfare, operating through a network of charitable foundations in 61 countries. Its flagship Ronald McDonald House program provides accommodation and support for families of children receiving long-term medical care.
Inha University Hospital, a premier medical institution in the region, continues to strengthen its essential medical services, particularly in specialized pediatric care. The hospital operates a government-designated Public Specialized Medical Center for Children, a 24-hour Pediatric Emergency Center, a neonatal intensive care unit and the first pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in the Incheon and northwestern Gyeonggi region.
The addition of the Ronald McDonald House is expected to further elevate the quality of regional pediatric healthcare and reinforce Inha University Hospital’s leadership in pediatric care
