Sydney Airport lands new international service to major Asian hub

According to Sydney Airport, the new service is scheduled to align with onward connections via Kuala Lumpur, linking travellers to key destinations across Asia.

On sale now, the new service will add around 120,000 seats per year between the ports, joining Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia X and Turkish Airlines on the route.

Fares between the NSW capital and KL start from AU$359 (one-way) in economy and $1,179 (one-way) in business class.

Batik Air Malaysia is heading to Sydney Airport.

A full-service airline owned by Indonesia’s Lion Air Group, Batik Air Malaysia already flies to Sydney, but with a layover in Bali Denpasar. The airline also flies to Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

In late March, Batik Air commenced the only nonstop service between Perth and the Malaysian island of Penang.

Sydney Airport, meanwhile, is experiencing its own massive growth, closing its busiest international year on record in 2025, capped by the busiest international quarter the airport has ever handled in Q4 last year.
