Ει βούλει καλώς ακούειν, μάθε καλώς λέγειν, μαθών δε καλώς λέγειν, πειρώ καλώς πράττειν, και ούτω καρπώση το καλώς ακούειν. (Επίκτητος)

ASTA Highlights Support for Travel Advisors During DHS Shutdown

Advisors encouraged to stay informed as ASTA advocates for action and supports the travel system during ongoing disruption

WHAT:

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is highlighting resources available on its homepage to help travel advisors navigate the Department of Homeland Security shutdown and its impact on the travel system.

The resource page outlines how ASTA is supporting advisors during the shutdown, including advocating alongside U.S. Travel Association and coalition partners for congressional actionsubmitting comments to the House Committee on Homeland Security, a

nd encouraging travel advisors and agency leaders to share directly with elected officials how funding lapses affect travelers, businesses and the broader travel economy.

ASTA’s efforts also include real-time advocacy when disruptions threaten the systems that make travel possible, as well as support for federal employees through ASTA’s partnership with the Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA), including a $10,000 contribution to its emergency assistance program.

WHY IT MATTERS:
The Department of Homeland Security shutdown is creating uncertainty across the travel system, affecting the infrastructure and personnel that help keep travel moving safely and efficiently.

Travel advisors are often on the front lines of helping clients respond to disruptions and understand shifting conditions. ASTA is working to ensure advisors have timely information, a strong industry voice in Washington and resources that recognize the broader impact of funding lapses on travelers, businesses and federal employees alike.

QUOTE FROM ZANE KERBY, ASTA PRESIDENT AND CEO:
“Travel advisors are once again stepping up to help clients navigate disruption and uncertainty across the travel system. During the Department of Homeland Security shutdown, ASTA is advocating for swift action, amplifying the voice of the travel industry and supporting the people who help keep travel functioning. We remain committed to ensuring advisors have the information, representation and resources they need during this challenging time.”
