Valencia strengthens its position as a European leader in accessible tourism

VALENCIA, SPAIN – Valencia is emerging as one of Europe’s leading destinations for accessible tourism with the launch of seven new fully certified routes now available on TUR4all Travel, the world’s most widely used platform for accessible travel experiences. The initiative reflects the region’s commitment to inclusive tourism and strengthens Spain’s position as Europe’s top-performing country in accessible travel, according to the TUR4all Travel 2025 Trends Report.

Ranked among Spain’s Top 5 most accessible destinations – and the fastest-growing – Valencia is expanding its tourism offering beyond its traditional coastal appeal. The seven new accessible routes highlight cultural, nature-based and gastronomy-focused experiences across the region. They offer verified information on mobility, sensory and cognitive accessibility, ensuring inclusive and reliable options for all travellers.

The launch aligns with a record-breaking tourism year for the region. Valencia welcomed nearly 30 million visitors in 2024, generating a 15.5% increase in international arrivals and a 21.2% rise in international tourist spending. Tourism now contributes more than 16% of the regional economy and supports over 280,000 jobs, underlining the sector’s economic significance.

The accessible tourism market is becoming a critical growth segment globally. Today, 1.3 billion people – around 15% of the world’s population – live with some form of disability. In Europe alone, more than 100 million travellers require accessible services. This group has strong travel loyalty, higher-than-average spending, and a growing influence on destination competitiveness. As inclusive infrastructure improves, the cost of accessible travel decreases, generating both economic and social value.

Cultural experiences remain the top priority for travellers with accessibility needs, with 50% citing culture and heritage as their preferred trip types. In this area, Valencia stands out with adapted museums, monuments and historic centres that cater to diverse accessibility requirements.

Commenting on the announcement, Miguel Carrasco, COO of TUR4all Travel, said: “With accessibility now at the core of its tourism strategy, the Region of Valencia is setting a new benchmark for European destinations – demonstrating that inclusivity drives both competitiveness and sustainability. The Region of Valencia has understood that accessibility is not just about removing barriers – it’s about opening opportunities. Accessibility enhances not only the travel experience for people with disabilities, but also for seniors, families, and travellers with temporary limitations. It’s the foundation of a more sustainable and future-proof tourism model.
