Kerten Hospitality has announced two significant developments that reinforce its expansion strategy across the Middle East and North Africa: the signing of Cloud 7 Al Murjan Island Resort – Dammam in Saudi Arabia and the group’s entry into Morocco with the signing of Cloud 7 Dersa Tetuàn.
Cloud 7 Al Murjan Island Resort – Dammam marks a new addition to Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. Designed by Zuhair Fayez Partnership under the vision of Dr. Zuhair Hamed Fayez, the resort is part of a mixed-use development combining hospitality, leisure, entertainment and wellness. It will feature 74 overwater chalets, bringing one of the region’s most distinctive coastal concepts to the market. The resort will also include Nyssa Beach, a ladies-only beach club offering spa, wellness, fitness facilities, salon services and dedicated social and workspaces.
Marwan Al Qaydy, CEO of Koushan Real Estate Development Company, said: “The development of Al Murjan Island marks a defining milestone for us, as it brings to life one of Dammam’s most iconic mixed-use destinations. As a self-contained island, it is designed as a vibrant hub where hospitality, entertainment, lifestyle, and leisure seamlessly come together on a single world-class waterfront.”
Marloes Knippenberg, CEO of Kerten Hospitality, added: “Al Murjan Island represents the kind of purposeful destination that defines our vision for hospitality in Saudi Arabia. Bringing the Cloud 7 brand to Dammam marks an exciting step in our continued growth across the Kingdom.”
Cloud 7 Al Murjan Island Resort – Dammam becomes part of a growing national portfolio that includes AlUla, Al Ahsa, Jeddah, Taif, Abha, Yanbu and Riyadh. The company highlights projects such as Dar Tantora The House Hotel in AlUla as examples of its community-centric development approach.
Kerten Hospitality enters Morocco with Cloud 7 Dersa Tetuàn
Kerten Hospitality has also signed Cloud 7 Dersa Tetuàn, its first property in Morocco, in partnership with Oromecanica Group, a well-established Moroccan jeweler known for its artisanal heritage. The hotel will be located in the historic Dersa building in Tetouan’s Spanish-era district, maintaining its original façade while transforming the interior into a contemporary lifestyle hotel. The design will reflect Tetouan’s Andalusian influences and the craftsmanship ethos of Oromecanica Group.
Aziz El Hajouji, Chairman of Oromecanica Group, stated: “Our maison RAFINITY Joaillerie has grown around a commitment to excellence and a singular aesthetic. The integration of hospitality expertise into our world follows the same ambition: offering to our clients an experience of welcome and refinement that resonates with the spirit of our creations.”
Cloud 7 Dersa Tetuàn will offer 63 keys, including family suites, several dining outlets such as the signature restaurant Joontos, as well as a cigar lounge, lobby café and rooftop bar. The hotel is positioned to leverage Tetouan’s growing tourism profile and its role as a cultural hub near the Martil–Tamuda Bay coastline.
Marloes Knippenberg commented: “We are super excited to partner with Oromecanica Group and to bring Cloud 7 to Morocco. This authentic address with its rich artistic heritage is the ideal destination for boutique travellers, digital creatives and heritage enthusiasts.”
Imad Barrakad, CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Tourism Development (SMIT), added: “This project is a great tribute to our efforts in bringing more professionals into the hospitality sector in Morocco, particularly in the lifestyle segment of the market.”
With Saudi Arabia and Morocco both investing heavily in tourism development, Kerten Hospitality continues to scale through a model focused on local culture, community engagement and destination-specific concepts. The two new Cloud 7 signings further strengthen its presence in high-potential markets, with additional projects expected to be announced soon.
