High-Level Pledging Event attracts significant support for ICAO’s strategic activities

 

ICAO’s first ever High-Level Pledging Event has resulted in 14 countries and 2 corporations committing funding for progress under ICAO’s Long-Term Strategic Plan, which foresees zero fatality and net-zero carbon emissions in air transport for everyone by 2050.

Commitments came from Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nigeria, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the European Union. Airbus and Boeing also pledged support.

The pledges came in response to ICAO's Global Appeal 2026-2028 and will be especially important to progress under the Strategic Plan’s No Country Left Behind goal, as they will support regional capacity building, training scholarships, and the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) programme.

The event took place on 24 September 2025 as part of the programme of the 42nd session of the ICAO Assembly.
