Choice Hotels International, a global leader in lodging franchising, celebrated a successful year of growth and achievements across its key brands and segments in 2024. The company reached significant milestones that highlight its leadership in the hospitality industry and demonstrate its strong potential for sustained growth in 2025 and beyond.
“Choice Hotels ran through the finish line in 2024, and we’re determined to build on that strong momentum in the coming year,” said Choice Hotels International President and CEO Patrick Pacious. “Our unique revenue-intense growth strategy and unyielding focus on driving our owners’ revenue up and their costs down will continue to power the future for Choice and our hotel owners — and that future is bright.”
Driving Growth Across Segments: Choice Hotels’ 2024 Milestones
Leading the Way in Extended Stay
Choice Hotels reinforced its leadership in the extended stay segment by matching its record of 61 hotel openings in 2024, including the landmark debut of its 500th extended stay property in October. This growth featured 25 WoodSpring Suites and six Everhome Suites hotels—record highs for these new-construction brands—alongside 16 MainStay Suites and 14 Suburban Studios properties. WoodSpring Suites continued its dominance as the #1 economy extended stay brand, according to the J.D. Power North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study, for the second consecutive year. The brand accounted for 70% of all new extended stay hotels under construction and 65% of all groundbreakings in the segment as of November 2024.
Excelling in Upscale Hospitality
In the upscale segment, Choice Hotels strengthened its reputation as a leader to watch, opening 27 new properties in 2024. This included 18 Ascend Hotel Collection properties, marking an 80% year-over-year increase, seven Cambria Hotels, and two Radisson properties. Notable openings included The Quincy, Ascend Hotel Collection, in Washington, D.C., the Cambria Hotel Niagara Falls in New York, and the Radisson Fairview Heights – St. Louis in Illinois. Since integrating Radisson Americas brands in 2023, the upscale Radisson brand achieved a 7.5% year-over-year increase in RevPAR, setting the stage for future expansion.
Sustaining Momentum in Midscale
Choice Hotels celebrated significant achievements in midscale and upper midscale segments, opening 41 Quality Inn properties during the brand’s 85th anniversary year. The flagship Comfort brand added 26 properties, while Country Inn & Suites by Radisson grew with six new openings. Country Inn & Suites also saw a 19-point RevPAR Index increase, a 20% rise in direct online contributions, and a 10% boost in revenue from the Global Sales team, solidifying its market position.
Pioneering Innovation and Inclusivity
Key highlights from late 2024 and early 2025 included:
- Brand Evolution: Relaunching Radisson Individuals as an upper upscale soft brand to complement the Ascend Hotel Collection, alongside refreshed logos and new design packages for Radisson Blu and Radisson.
- Innovative Design: Introducing the “Lobby in a Box” modular design package to transform public spaces in as little as 120 days, building on the success of the “Kitchen in a Box” solution for extended stay brands.
- Expanding Diversity: Achieving record milestones with the SOAR program, opening 20 properties and awarding 37 franchise agreements to support underrepresented entrepreneurs in hotel ownership.
Positioned for Continued Growth
With a proven ability to execute swift property conversions, Choice Hotels is set for sustained expansion in 2025. Its world-class conversion capabilities enable rapid pipeline movement, delivering exceptional value to owners in all market conditions.
These achievements underscore Choice Hotels’ commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and growth, reinforcing its position as a leader in the hospitality industry.
“Industry projections show that hotel demand growth will continue to outpace supply growth this year and in 2026,” explained Dominic Dragisich, Executive Vice President for Operations and Chief Global Brand Officer at Choice Hotels International. “That’s the type of environment in which our unrivaled hotel conversion capability really shines. Our ability to efficiently convert existing hotels into Choice-branded properties is a core competency that will continue to help fuel the growth of our global portfolio in 2025 and beyond.”
