Hyatt adds Under Canvas resorts to loyalty program Under Canvas Acadia, near Acadia National Park in Maine. (Hyatt Hotels Corp.) Hyatt Hotels Corp. has partnered with glamping brand Under Canvas and will incorporate the company's 13 outdoor resorts into its loyalty program, allowing World of Hyatt members to book glamping properties through Hyatt booking channels and earn and redeem loyalty points. The upscale resorts are near popular outdoor destinations and national parks, such as Acadia National Park in Maine, Yellowstone National Park in Montana and the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.  Full Story: Travel Weekly (7/26)

Hotel workers in 4 US cities may authorize strikes Around 13,500 hotel staffers who are members of the Unite Here union in San Francisco, Honolulu, Boston and Providence, R.I., will take part in votes beginning Aug. 6 to decide whether strikes could be authorized. The vote takes place as contracts with several major hotel brands have expired or are about to expire, and hospitality workers are seeking higher wages, increased staffing and more reasonable workloads.  Full Story: Hotel Dive (7/25)  $100M casino-hotel planned in Coweta, Okla. A September construction start is scheduled for a $100 million investment by the Muscogee Nation on the new Coweta Casino Hotel in Oklahoma.
