Himachal Pradesh to Shine Major Tourism Boost with 11 New Projects Worth INR 696.47 Crore

 

Himachal Pradesh is set for a significant tourism boost as 11 new projects, totaling INR 696.47 crore, are launched to enhance the state’s travel infrastructure.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced an ambitious series of 11 development projects across Himachal Pradesh, with a total investment of INR 696.47 crore. These projects are part of a comprehensive plan to enhance the state’s tourism infrastructure, with the goal of making Himachal Pradesh a more appealing destination for travelers and driving economic growth.

The projects include significant investments in key areas. For instance, a convention center is being developed in Dharamshala with an allocation of INR 161.91 crore. Beautification initiatives are also planned for Palampur and Nagrota Bagwan, supported by a budget of INR 95.50 crore. In addition, a wellness center is being constructed in Nadaun with an investment of INR 91.42 crore, and a new ice skating cum roller skating rink is set to be established in Dharamshala, funded at INR 39.51 crore.

To ensure these projects are completed on time, the Chief Minister has emphasized the need for swift execution. He has instructed officials to accelerate the pace of work and adhere to the set timelines. This proactive approach highlights the government’s dedication to strengthening the state’s tourism sector and enhancing its appeal to both domestic and international visitors.

In another key development, Chief Minister Sukhu outlined plans to transform Pong Dam into a premier destination for birdwatchers, positioning it as a national center for excellence in water sports. Additionally, the expansion of Kangra airport is underway, which is expected to significantly boost the region’s ability to attract high-end tourists.

The Chief Minister also noted the positive impact these initiatives are already having, with the number of tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh reaching 1.13 crore by July 2024. This surge in tourism underscores the growing recognition of Himachal Pradesh as a leading tourist destination in India, driven by the state’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and visitor experience.
