InterContinental Hotels Group partners with Star Millennium to rebrand two Sydney hotels as Crowne Plaza, opening in 2024 and 2025, offering premium 5-star options.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a partnership with Star Millennium to rebrand two existing hotels into premium properties. These will be launched as Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport in September 2024 and Crowne Plaza Macquarie Park in early 2025. Both establishments will be upgraded to provide enhanced 5-star accommodations for visitors to Sydney.
Trilogy Hotels will manage daily operations and performance of both hotels independently, collaborating with IHG Hotels & Resorts under a franchise agreement to utilize their branding and distribution expertise.
The Holiday Inn Sydney Airport is currently undergoing its transition to Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport, set to open in September this year following a $15 million refurbishment completed in 2022. This new 252-room Crowne Plaza will feature a refreshed lobby and restaurant.
Simultaneously, the 196-room Courtyard by Marriott, Sydney-North Ryde will begin extensive renovations on January 1, 2025, updating guest rooms and the lobby in preparation for its rebranding.
As part of this significant deal, Trilogy Hotels will establish and manage a leadership team for the owners, Star Millennium Pty Ltd, owned by the Huang family, across their other properties.
IHG currently operates or has plans for 97 hotels in Australasia & the Pacific, including 22 Crowne Plaza locations. Over the next year, IHG will open new Crowne Plaza hotels in Mawson Lakes (South Australia), Melbourne Carlton, and Shell Cove Marina (NSW), with another property in Geelong scheduled for 2026.
The eagerly awaited Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa opened its doors in March 2024.
