IHG Expands Indian Footprint: 50 New Hotels Set To Launch In Next Five Years

IHG plans major expansion in India with 50 new hotels set to open across five brands in the next 3-5 years, enhancing its market presence.

IHG® Hotels & Resorts, a premier global hotel company, has inked a management agreement with Siddhya Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd. to develop the Holiday Inn Resort Kufri, set to open in 2026. This move aligns with IHG’s strategic expansion in India, reinforcing its commitment to offering diverse and exceptional hospitality experiences in leisure destinations across the country.

Holiday Inn, a beloved and globally recognized hotel brand with a history spanning over 70 years, has achieved tremendous success in India. The brand is dedicated to providing quality, consistent, and authentic experiences to travelers. Holiday Inn Resort Kufri will embody these core values, delivering a travel experience tailored to both leisure and corporate guests.

The new resort will be located in the picturesque town of Kufri in the Shimla district, renowned for its stunning mountain and forest vistas. Conveniently connected by road to Shimla, Chandigarh, and other parts of North India, the hilltop resort will offer panoramic mountain views, enhancing the guest experience. Its prime location ensures easy access to major destinations, promising a seamless travel experience. The resort will cater to the strong demand from independent travelers, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and wedding segments throughout the year.

Holiday Inn Resort Kufri will feature 100 well-appointed rooms, including 10 exclusive suites. Guests will have a variety of dining options with four F&B outlets: an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge and bar, a destination bar, and a pool bar. For social gatherings and corporate meetings, the resort will offer four versatile meeting and event spaces, including a grand ballroom designed to meet the high demand from the wedding segment. Additional amenities will include a fully equipped gym, a pool, and retail spaces for guests to relax and unwind.

Commenting on the signing, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts said, “We are delighted to announce the signing of Holiday Inn Resort Kufri in partnership with Siddhya Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd. The Kufri-Shimla region is a highly sought-after leisure and events destination in India. It attracts a diverse range of travellers, from leisure seekers to business guests attending conferences, and guests seeking destination weddings. Kufri’s picturesque views and strategic location makes it an ideal destination to open a Holiday Inn Resort.”

He added, “The signing underscores our commitment to expand IHG’s presence in key leisure markets in the country. Once opened, we are confident that the Holiday Inn Resort Kufri will be well-positioned to offer guests an unparalleled experience.”

Siddharth Kundu, Managing Director of Siddhya Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd, added: “We are thrilled to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts to bring a Holiday Inn Resort to Kufri. Combining our local expertise with IHG’s global standards, we aim to create a distinguished destination that will become a preferred choice for travellers seeking both relaxation and adventure.”
