The Westin St. Francis, renowned as the “Grand Dame” of San Francisco’s Union Square, has completed a renovation of its six Luxury Suites located on the 31st floor of the Tower Building. In honor of the hotel’s upcoming 120th anniversary on March 21, 2024, the design draws inspiration from the hotel’s rich history, paying homage to its past while reflecting its place in vibrant San Francisco.
The seamless integration of the Tower Building’s contemporary architectural style with the hotel’s opulent Art Deco elements is a testament to the design’s synergy. Led by San Francisco-based firm BraytonHughes, the approach incorporates the enchantment of 1920s glamour with the natural beauty of San Francisco.
Each suite features a distinctive color palette inspired by the intrinsic aesthetics and colors of the Bay Area. The Windsor Suite exudes soft rust tones reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Bridgeview, Pacific and Bayview suites feature metal-accented furnishings in golden hues, echoing San Francisco’s skyline during sunset. The Golden Gate Suite incorporates tranquil shades of blue, while the Union Square Suite pays homage to the Presidio with pops of green.
Five of the six suites take their names from the vistas they offer: Bay View Suite, Union Square Suite, Golden Gate Suite, Bridgeview Suite and Pacific Suite. Meanwhile, the Windsor Suite commemorates the historical moment when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip stayed there on March 2, 1983, following a State Dinner.
Spanning a range of sizes from 550-1,900 sq. ft., several of the suites have undergone renovations to elevate the guest experience by offering more room for relaxation and entertainment. Notably, some of the suites can be transformed into two-bedroom configurations with connecting bathrooms including the Golden Gate, Union Square and Windsor suites. Spacious bathrooms feature walk-in showers and several boast expansive marble soaking tubs, adding to the sense of luxury and comfort.
The Windsor Suite, the largest of all suites at 1,900 sq. ft., boasts a grand marble foyer, a primary bedroom that showcases two bays, plus a sitting room, a spacious new walk-in closet, two television viewing areas and ample seating for taking in the panoramic city and bay views. An open bar has been incorporated into the dining area adjacent to the butler’s pantry, offering opportunities for interactive hosted experiences. Additionally, the suite offers an optional king-size bedroom and bathroom.
Guests staying in the Luxury Suites will enjoy a range of exclusive amenities and services, including a pre-arrival concierge experience to customize their visit, luxury car rental or on-demand driver service, private check-in and checkout, fresh flowers and a bottle of Chateau Montelena wine upon arrival, a personalized minibar tailored to the individual preferences of each guest, and exclusive access to the Westin Club Lounge.
