Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has issued a strong advisory urging its citizens to avoid travel to specific areas in the Middle East due to escalating violence and ongoing conflict.
The MFA has recommended against all travel to the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and regions of Israel that share borders with the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Syria.
Additionally, Singaporeans have been advised to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel to Israel, given the volatile situation in the region.
The advisory comes in response to the recent exchange of rocket fire between Israel and the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in casualties on both sides and raised concerns about regional stability. The conflict has intensified, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declaring that Israel is “at war” and calling for the mobilization of army reserves.
Singapore has strongly condemned the rocket attacks and acts of terror originating from Gaza and has called for an immediate cessation of violence. Singaporean citizens currently in Israel and the Palestinian Territories are urged to remain vigilant, closely monitor local developments, and avoid areas prone to public disturbances and large gatherings, including the Old City and East Jerusalem, including Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount.
The MFA also emphasized the importance of taking necessary precautions for personal safety, including purchasing comprehensive travel and medical insurance. Singaporean travelers are encouraged to register electronically with the MFA to facilitate communication and assistance in case of emergencies or unforeseen events.
