Qatar sees 78 percent year-on-year tourist upsurge in August

Qatar listed a 78 percent year-on-year upsurge in tourists in August this year, as per information disclosed by the Planning and Statistics Authority.

Around 264,000 travelers visited the country, even though this marked an 8.5 percent decline when
equated to the month of July this year.

The positive times in tourism comes with Qatar’s post-FIFA World Cup tourism determinations enduring to gain impetus.

In July, Qatar saw a 91.4 percent year-on-year rush in tourists, totaling a projected 288,000, underscoring the country’s drive to reinforce the tourism and cultural segments.

The rush in tourists can be credited to a combination of events, comprising Expo 2023 Doha, the Geneva
International Motor Show in Qatar, the Formula One Qatar Grand Prix, along with a sequence of worldwide performances.

The Qatar Monthly Statistics statement specified that 43 percent of tourists in the month of August came from the Gulf Cooperation Council nations. Majority of these tourists came by air, contributing 62 percent of the overall number.

In August, the total number of vessels coming at Qatar’s harbors witnessed a 10.3 percent upsurge equated to July this year. Furthermore, the complete net weight of ships also saw an increase, marking a 22.1 percent upsurge equalled to the preceding month.
