IVERHOUSE LODGE RENOVATES

Iconic Pacific-Northwest hotel, The Riverhouse, located on two sides of the Deschutes River, has revealed the most extensive renovation in the its nearly 50-year history and a brand refresh as Riverhouse Lodge. The updates extend to all 221 guestrooms; the Currents Restaurant & Bar with its serene riverside patio; the refreshed conference center, which  features 41,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor meeting space; and the expanded and relandscaped wedding lawn. The renovation to the lobby and all public spaces will be completed by the end of this year, ushering in a new era for The Riverhouse Lodge as it prepares for its 50th anniversary in summer 2024.

“With our 50th anniversary on the horizon, our team is thrilled to be polishing up our beloved hotel and restaurant,” said General Manager Brandon Tyler. “It’s been exciting to move our Riverhouse experience into its next phase, while also paying homage to its beginnings as a fun and happening riverside lodge.”

Created in partnership with Echo Marie Studio, the new design is rooted in the destination, with inspiration taken from its unique river-centric setting, along with a strong sense of nostalgia for its historic motor-lodge roots and aesthetic. The new Riverhouse Lodge serves as a luxurious basecamp for adventurous travelers to Bend—who come for outdoor pursuits ranging from mountain biking and hiking to fishing and paddling to skiing and golf as well as the world-famous craft beer scene—and seek an environment that feels deeply connected to this special destination.

Guestrooms

Tones of blue and warm, rusty-brown carry into the 221 guestrooms, which have been updated with a nod to nostalgia and offer guests a cozy retreat to reset for their next day’s activities. New bunkbed rooms provide families and groups with a fun and playful abode. The new furnishings have a collected, familiar feel to evoke memories of family heirlooms, including classic Adirondack chairs in a vintage-inspired plaid and naturally textured planked wood headboards with custom camp blanket-inspired woven bedding.

To add to the memory-making at Riverhouse Lodge, several firepits have been added and many patio spaces expanded. River-facing guestrooms on the lower level now have firepits that can be enjoyed from new Adirondack chairs. Roasting sticks and s’mores ingredients are available to purchase from the front desk.

Currents Restaurant & Bar

A longtime favorite for travelers and locals in Bend, particularly for the one-of-a-kind outdoor patio that sits right on the Deschutes River, the newly re-imagined Currents Restaurant & Bar has not only received a redesign but a refreshed dining concept as well.

The updated restaurant features a newly open layout, rich woods, supple leathers, stylish lighting fixtures and a fireplace, emanating a feeling of comfort and relaxation. In keeping with the overall design concept, the welcoming indoor-outdoor space showcases the surrounding natural beauty while maintaining an upscale yet unassuming ambiance. At the area’s best outdoor patio, guests can enjoy dining alfresco with heaters and fire tables while listening to sounds of the river. Guests can extend their meal with time at the pool table and shuffleboard in the bar area.

Convention center & wedding lawn

With more than 41,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, the convention center has been refreshed with new stylish carpets that evoke a vintage feel. The suite of carpets has a topographic pattern as the base, with plaid overlays that line the corridors and other spaces.

A special highlight is the updated wedding lawn, which has been enlarged and newly landscaped to be more picturesque for weddings and events for up to 200 people, capturing the natural beauty of Bend.

The convention center accommodates groups ranging in size from five-1,800 guests with spaces that are great for any type of event, including breakout sessions, team building activities, weddings, family reunions, trade shows or conferences.

Coming soon: lobby renovation

The renovation to the lobby and public spaces will be completed by end of this year, in advance of the hotel’s 50th anniversary in summer 2024. The new lobby space will utilize warm, reclaimed wood from the old Stern’s Cattle Company cabin that was salvaged from the property. Rustic registration desks will celebrate this wood, and are framed with oversized, backlit historic images. Metal touches will be incorporated into the millwork, fireplace surround, and lighting, as an homage to the history of industrial mills in the area. Inviting fabrics, ranging from organically tanned leather to soft textural weaves, adorn bespoke, heritage-inspired pieces throughout. The color palette was developed to mimic the natural setting of the property, incorporating shades of warm brown, taupe, rust and blue.
