A4A congratulates Michael Whitaker on his overwhelming bipartisan confirmation. We thank Senate leadership for their prompt attention to this nomination on the Senate floor. We especially appreciate Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell and Ranking Member Ted Cruz for their support and careful review of Administrator Whitaker’s credentials and experience.
We look forward to working collaboratively with the administrator to address the critical issues facing our National Airspace System, including air traffic control staffing shortages and NextGen modernization implementation. These complex challenges underscore why steady, permanent leadership at the agency is necessary, especially given the anticipated growth in demand for passenger and cargo air transportation. We are confident Administrator Whitaker will tackle these challenges and others at the agency head-on.
