Latin America to surpass pre-pandemic level in revenue

 

Through the Annual Economic Impact Report, the WTTC emphasized that in 2023, the financial contribution of the sector to the GDP of Latin America will surpass the levels of pre-pandemic times, as it will contribute US$319.5 billion to the local economy.


Similarly, by the end of this year, regional employment level is expected to reach 17 million jobs taken away by the tourism sector.

With this, the figures of 2019 would surpass by 0.1 percent.


It is calculated that by the end of this year, the tourism industry of Latin America will account for 7.9% of its total wealth, as per the same report.


The sector, last year, contributed 7.6% to the GDP of the region. This contributed US$302.6 billion to the economy of Latin America. It was an expansion of 34% compared to the year before.


Also, it contributed almost 16.4 million jobs in the region. This number stands for a rise of 17.7% compared to 2021.


The WTTC President, and CEO, Julia Simpson, said that the Travel & Tourism sector of Latin America keeps on reviving, representing its flexibility and lasting craving of people to travel.


Simpson added that by the end of 2023, the contribution of the sector to the regional economy will go beyond 2019 levels.

Julia said that they expect this year to be the year of the long-awaited recuperation of tourism in Latin America.
