INTERCONTINENTAL CHICAGO TO RENOVATE

The Magnificent Mile, one of the most iconic destinations in the world, is about to get even more special. InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile has launched its biggest renovation yet, promising to provide guests with an elevated travel experience that perfectly complements the hotel’s thoughtful programming and fine dining offerings. Just in time for summer travel, the reimagined spaces will be completed by June.

Perched along the city’s most iconic corridor, this luxury property offers nearly 100 years of Chicago history. While it has continuously evolved over the years to deliver exceptional hospitality, this next iteration will prove to be the most noteworthy one yet. Through weekly events, seasonal packages and exceptional staff, many of whom have been a part of the team for more than a decade, InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile has already established itself as a top choice for both leisure travelers and business travelers alike. But now with the Grand Tower makeover underway, the hotel will offer inviting and contemporary rooms to match.

“In many ways, we are waking a sleeping giant,” said Chris Cawley, general manager. “This has always been an exceptional property in so many ways, and our stunning, newly refreshed Grand Tower guest rooms will be the final finishing touch.”

Boasting 477 rooms, InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile’s Grand Tower will be fully transformed to offer a playful, sophisticated design that marries the hotel’s Moorish-influenced roots with modern luxury. Designed by KTGY’s award-winning interior design studio, KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group, the new look was inspired by the building’s rich history as the former Medinah Athletic Club. KTGY took notes from the ornate architecture commissioned by the Shriners Organization and completed in 1929, which includes three large relief carvings in the ancient Assyrian style.

To elevate the hotel’s interior spaces and match its exterior grandeur, KTGY created a Mediterranean mélange, incorporating Moorish, Greek, Turkish, Persian and Celtic design influences in a modern, often monochromatic and textural, way. The timeless design will be paired with updated amenities that cater specifically to today’s traveler, such as reimaged minibars and remote working setups. Eye-catching full-length armoires replace the typical hotel room closet space, featuring an arched top that pays homage to the building’s Medinah roots.

Later this fall, highly anticipated culinary additions will also arrive at the hotel. A new restaurant concept featuring Latin fusion cuisine from a Southwest culinary icon will make its mark on The Magnificent Mile. With an open-air space and outdoor patio, it is sure to quickly become the area’s premiere dining destination. Longstanding city favorite Michael Jordan’s Steak House Chicago will also be touched by the refresh. The fine dining steakhouse will welcome an elevated (literally) outdoor dining experience off of its second-floor restaurant.
