CityDNA Summer School 2023: A comprehensive programme for newcomers in the meetings industry

The 37th edition of the CityDNA Summer School will be held in Gdansk from August 26-30, 2023. This four-day event is specifically designed for newcomers in the Meetings Industry, offering a comprehensive programme with all the necessary bases for a successful start in a career in this field, while also helping attendees to navigate the current trends and challenges facing the industry.

The CityDNA Summer School has become a flagship event for meetings professionals, with 36 successful editions and around 2000 students over the years. This year, the programme has been revised to accommodate the ever-changing times we are currently living in, while still keeping in touch with the reality of day-to-day life. Attendees can expect to acquire a variety of new knowledge through a mix of theoretical sessions, hands-on workshops, interactive sessions, group projects, networking time, and plenty of fun.

Under the leadership of the new Course Director, Dennis Speet, Director of Amsterdam Convention Bureau, the Faculty of 15 experts will guide students through bidding processes, how to deal with different types of clients, all things sustainability, legacy and EDI, and much more.

“I am extremely proud to have been appointed as Course Leader for this prestigious event. Having worked closely with the team of CityDNA and the faculty leaders of the Summer School, I trust we have developed a fresh and inspiring programme, full of innovative industry learnings and surprises. I invite all industry leaders to send their new colleagues to this programme as it provides a solid start and complete overview of the international meetings industry. Personally, I look forward to the opportunity greatly, and am excited to welcome you all to the programme.” said Dennis Speet, Director of Amsterdam Convention Bureau and new Course Leader of the CityDNA Summer School.

The faculty are all members/partners of City Destinations Alliance and give their time on a voluntary basis – a way of giving back to the meetings industry. They will be announced in the coming weeks.

The CityDNA Summer School is open to anyone working in a DMO, a CVB, a hotel, an airline, a DMC or a PCO, whether one is just starting out in your career or looking to expand its knowledge and network. At the end of the four-day programme, attendees will leave feeling inspired, with improved knowledge and understanding of the industry, and a solid network with new connections all around Europe and beyond.
