Port of Salalah received over 3,500 passengers who arrived on two cruise ships over two days – April 6 and 9 – according to the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
On April 6, the port received Queen Victoria with 2,613 passengers, including 1,623 tourists of various nationalities.
On April 9, the Port of Salalah received Seabourn Encore with 945 passengers onboard, including 514 tourists, a ministry statement said.
The local sightseeing programme of the cruises included tours to major archaeological and historic landmarks in the Governorate of Dhofar, besides visiting beaches and traditional markets in Salalah, it added.
Over 85,000 cruise tourists visited Oman in 2022.
The sultanate expects that number to increase to 100,000 this year.
In 2022, cruise passengers were received at Port Sultan Qaboos, Port of Salalah and Khasab Port aboard 77 cruises.
This year Omani ports are expected to receive 142 port calls.
