The People, Planet and Paradigms Shaping Business Travel’s Future

Being on the road and among GBTA constituents is always insightful. Last week, I had the pleasure of presenting to the GBTA Tennessee Chapter. Just like the overall return of business travel, the Tennessee Chapter is growing and looking strong, as are many of GBTA’s chapters in the U.S.. It was my pleasure to connect with so many industry travel professionals in Nashville. A big thanks for the opportunity and gracious welcome.

Speaking of connection, the GBTA Board of Directors Virtual Town Hall is the place you’ll want to be on April 24th. (Register here to tune in live or on-demand.) President Denise Truso and Board members will connect with you on topics including sustainability, membership, advocacy, regional updates and Board elections for 2023, along with addressing the questions pre-submitted with your event registration.

During the Town Hall, Denise will also share some early results from our latest GBTA Business Travel Outlook Poll which includes questions on the timely topic of New Distribution Capability (NDC). Serving as a platform for information and debate, GBTA continues to bring together industry voices to share their views and experiences. (Complete poll results will be released April 26th. Be sure to take the poll today as it closes tomorrow.)

With a focus on People and Planet, the GBTA Foundation in its soon-to-be-released benchmarking report is addressing another important topic of how to leverage business travel while reducing climate impact. On April 20th, look for the report, “Managing Emissions from Business Travel Programs,” which provides a snapshot of how companies are reducing emissions from their travel programs and which practices are truly driving change.

And on April 24th the nomination process opens for the 2023 GBTA Board Elections. Five elected Board spots will be available for nominations: two officers (for Direct members), and three At-Large Director seats (two for Direct and one for Allied members). Nominations close May 8th. For eligibility requirements as per GBTA Bylaws and other election process details, visit the Elections page on GBTA.org. Serving on the GBTA Board is the ultimate volunteer opportunity to help shape the future of the association, our members and the industry.
