InspireDesign is growing its team with the addition of Betty Lyn Eller, who will work with our VP, Content & Creative Christina Trauthwein on developing and strengthening relationships and partnerships with our advertising community, and with the editorial team to bring our unique and inspiring content to our media partners, creating opportunities for InspireDesign’s print, digital and in-person platforms.
As sales manager, Betty Lyn will be responsible for not only bringing our brand and content to the industry but for bringing the industry’s many brands and their offerings to our audience of designers and specifiers of hotel product and design. She will be at HD Expo, so make sure to stop by the Hotel Business/InspireDesign booth to say hi. Or reach out to her at bettylyne@myinspiredesign.com to find out how InspireDesign can help bring your message to the hospitality industry.
Betty Lyn is experienced in—and passionate about—design. Just one conversation with her, and it’s evident. And contagious. You’ll see. But in the meantime, We thought we’d share a little bit about her, in InspireDesign’s signature style (a little bit of background + personality). To start, we asked her to name a few things she is inspired by, and here’s what she shared:
“I am ‘traditional with a twist’ when it comes to design. I am a collector at heart. I am passionate about curating really great things in terms of home decor, paintings or jewelry—whether vintage, new or handcrafted by artisans. I am all about color on walls and ceilings!”
“The best decisions I make are when I follow my instincts—the worst when I don’t!”
“My current favorite artwork is Claude Monet’s ‘Luncheon on the Grass.’”
“My signature style is cheetah- or leopard-print anything in any color. This applies to my home or my personal fashion. It is the ultimate neutral, and it’s fun!”
“Things I can’t live without include my art gallery wall, seashells, exhibition catalogues, champagne and cheese, full moons, dinner parties and my family crest ring.”
“My current inspiration and creative escape is creating collage art on vintage trays.”
Betty Lyn has a Fine Arts degree with a minor in dance, and her professional career began in the fast-paced and creatively rich environment of the advertising agency business. In the agency world, she worked with home furnishings clients in the residential and contract furnishings sector and has worked as director of advertising and consumer marketing for Masco Home Furnishings and Drexel Heritage Furnishings.
She is a born and bred Southerner who left the area to give part of her heart—and skills—to New York City and the magazine publishing industry, holding positions with Hearst Magazine titles Country Living, Shop Etc. and O at Home Magazine. After 10 years in Manhattan, the South called her back to run the newly established home division of IMRE Public Relations and Advertising Agency, and she took on the project manager role of the Country Living Fairs held in five states attracting 35,000+ visitors over a three-day weekend. Moreover, she held a sales management position with American Silk Mills, selling textiles in residential, visual display and aviation.
A founding member of WithIt (withit.org), Betty Lyn has great pride in its growth and service to women in the home furnishings industry; she also served as co-chairman of the Withit NYC Design Tour, opening doors to insider tours of artisan studios and creators.
Betty Lyn is known as the Manhattan Magnolia; she loves the grace and design styles of her Southern roots combined with the energy and forward trends of New York City and the greater design community at large. And, after 38 years, she hung up her tap dancing shoes (actually bronzed them) to, in her words, pursue another passion: “I will always want to travel the world. As Diana Vreeland said, ‘The eye has to travel.’”
