HISTORIC LONDON HOTEL TO REFRESH

London Hilton on Park Lane has embarked upon a refurbishment that will completely transform the guest experience. Starting with the rooms and suites, the Mayfair hotel, which opened in 1963, is undergoing a top-to-bottom renovation.

London Hilton on Park Lane has contracted G.A. Design International, an award-winning luxury hotel interior design group, to bring its new vision to life.

A new lobby layout will enhance guests’ arrival at the hotel, providing an open, bright and welcoming space with seating and a brand-new lobby bar. The elegant new bar will be a joyful take on modern London living, celebrating artistry and craft and serving up classic cocktails reflective of the hotel’s heritage.

The rooms and suites will maximize the hotel’s panoramic views over London and Hyde Park with natural materials and color schemes, giving a nod to the glamour of the 1960s with low-slung furniture, soft edges and cutting-edge design.

The ground floor restaurant will also be renovated and relaunched offering modern British eating and drinking which champions an elevated local, seasonal and responsible approach to dining. In honor of its position on the edge of Hyde Park, the new restaurant’s interiors will reflect the natural world, using noble materials such as travertine and bronze with a color scheme of greens, natural and fresh tones.

Matthew Mullan, general manager, London Hilton on Park Lane said, “With a 60-year heritage, London Hilton on Park Lane is one of the capital’s most iconic hotels and as we celebrate our anniversary, we can’t wait to showcase this exceptional transformation to our guests. Envisioned by Conrad Hilton as the epitome of modern hospitality back in 1963, this new design pays homage to the hotel’s roots, adding a modern twist and celebrating its location on the edge of one of London’s finest parks.”

The iconic Park Lane hotel has hosted more than 11 million guests since its opening in 1963. Opened by Conrad Hilton himself, it was the largest hotel in Europe at the time, standing at 328 ft. high. Every year, it hosts more than 200,000 guests in its 453 rooms. The refurbishment is the most significant since opening.

The hotel will remain open throughout the renovation, which will be completed in stages to minimize disruption to guests.

The hotel’s new bar on the ground floor is being constructed as part of the refurbishment. The Presidential Suite on the 27th floor whose color scheme reflects the Duke of Wellington’s uniform gives a nod to the views of Wellington Arch from the hotel.

London Hilton on Park Lane has remained a favored destination amongst royalty and celebrities, hosting guests including Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, The Beatles and Keith Richards.
