Heritage tourism is a major hit

Delhi is a city dipped in history, and brags of many heritage locations, which remains as the best attraction among tourists as well as filmmakers. An upcoming film with the title Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, where Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are featuring, has greater portions shot in the Qutub complex. At Delhi Gate, the yet-to-be-released film – Animal, where Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna have been starred, was filmed. In Uunchai, the recently released film, the character portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan is seen exercising at Humayun’s Tomb. A shot of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha where the character was seen crossing Red Fort. These are few instances where in the last few decade, the heritage sites of Delhi have majorly acted as the background in many movies, assisting the story to unfold. Walk organisers have said that in turn these movie shots have increased people’s interest in coming to these places, with eagerness in visitors to repeat or experience a movie moment.

The organisers of the heritage walk say that the idea of screen tourism or film tourism is genuine for sure, where a particular location of a city becomes immensely popular with visitors as it has been seen in that film or television series. These shots actually adds that this drift is not limited to tourists visiting from outside. Even the locals get interested in coming to a heritage site they have seen in a film.
