Fraport Greece, the operator of Chania Airport "Ioannis Daskalogiannis", is honored to be hosting the 14th ACI EUROPE Regional Airports Conference & Exhibition, RACE 2023, for the first time in Greece, the annual meeting of European regional airport operators, which will take place on 25-27 April 2023, in Chania, Crete.
More than 150 executives of the regional airport community from all over Europe will have the opportunity to meet in the beautiful city of Chania and exchange views, thoughts and best practices on issues related to the aviation market.
At the same time, they will have the opportunity to participate in a number of thematic sessions, which include, among others, the development of connections between airports, innovation, staffing teams in terms of diversity and inclusion, processes and the need for transition to a "green" and digital airport, etc.
The ACI EUROPE RACE conference, which has become an institution in the aviation market and beyond, is the only event in the industry dedicated to Europe's regional hubs and smaller airports. With an annual frequency, this conference is held under the auspices of the Airports Council International (ACI), which represents more than 500 airports in 55 countries, across Europe. It is worth noting that the participating airports cover more than 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe.
The previous annual meeting of ACI EUROPE RACE 2022 was held in Palermo, Italy, hosted by GESAP S.p.A. - Aeroporto di Palermo. The host of the next year’s edition will be announced during the conference in Chania.
Mr. Alexander Zinell, CEO of Fraport Greece, commented on the conference, stating: "We are delighted to welcome the 14th ACI EUROPE RACE 2023 to Greece, which this year will be held in the city of Chania, Crete. We are thrilled that the industry is recovering and the desire of passengers to travel remains unabated. However, airports, especially regional airports, face multiple challenges above and beyond the rapid growth in passenger numbers. As the company that has made one of the largest ever investments in Greece, we are committed to making this year's meeting as special as the host city."
Mr. Olivier Jankovec, ACI EUROPE Director General, stated: "As we gather in Chania for the 14th ACI EUROPE Regional Airports Conference & Exhibition, our discussions will be guided by a content-rich agenda reflecting the vital role that regional airports play in fostering regional connectivity in Europe. They are our industry’s first line of climate action and decarbonisation, and provide vital services to Europe's communities, including insular and remote territories. Supporting them is key for ACI EUROPE, and this event is the only one dedicated to their particular interests and needs. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank
you to Fraport Greece, the operator of Chania Airport "Ioannis Daskalogiannis", for hosting the conference. Their commitment to the aviation industry and to the development of regional airports is truly commendable, and we are honoured to be able to gather in such a beautiful location thanks to their efforts."
