Mexican-Mediterranean twist

The St. Regis Punta Mita has completed the first phase of its property-wide reinvention project, with phase two set to begin later this year. The property has enhanced the lobby and concierge areas, a selection of guestrooms and suites including eight oceanfront beach villas, Altamira lobby bar, Las Marietas Restaurant & Bar, Marietas pool and beach and outdoor wedding spaces. Designed by B-Huber, the reinvention celebrates the resort’s past while redefining the future.

“This reinvention project is a pivotal chapter in the history of the resort, welcoming in a new era of unmatched luxury for our guests,” said General Manager Gonzalo Guelmanros. “Positioned in one of the most coveted areas of Punta Mita, our property embodies the elegance our innovative founder John Jacob Astor IV built and we look forward to welcoming both new and returning loyal guests to experience this next phase for the resort.”

Local craftsmanship and emotional architecture inspired the design of the reinvention, weaving together natural textures and materials such as travertine marble, blown glass, clay tiles, hammered brass and silk rugs to form a Mexican-Mediterranean essence that runs throughout the resort’s lavish accommodations. A new lens of colonial-style estates known as Haciendas inspires the interior spaces while commissioned handmade art pieces create an ambiance of rich anticipation.

Oceanfront villas
The entire St. Regis Punta Mita Ocean Front Villas portfolio has been reimagined to give guests a new way of experiencing the landscape that surrounds them with spaces that feature large open spaces, huge apertures and local materials. Giving an elevated sense of privacy, each villa now includes larger outdoor spaces with each feature its own dipping pool for guests to relax and rejuvenate. New in-room amenities include a Gold Beauty Bar used to help create a lifting effect and better penetration of facial products. Setting the bar in luxury guest services, the St. Regis Signature Butler is available day or night to all on-property guests whether they are staying in a villa, suite or guestroom. Services include unpacking and packing, daily tea service and more.

Guestrooms and suites
Inspired by the concept of Mexican-Mediterranean architecture as well as the arched patios pigmented finished walls, stone columns, beautiful frescos and colored tiles of traditional Mexican Haciendas, the newly designed guestrooms and suites reflect the resort’s location and climate, integrating a strategic use of color, lighting and natural elements to evoke the mysticism of the Haciendas and to instill a total sense of relaxation.

Altamira lobby bar
Welcoming lumineers when they arrive on property, the Altamira lobby bar sets the scene for each visit, showcasing the hotel’s stunning scenery and glamor. Whether it’s cocktail hour or late night drinks, tequila and mezcal take center stage at Altamira lobby bar with unique programming and signature cocktails. Offering bold flavors in a casual atmosphere, the bar and lounge feature upscale bar bites inspired by Mexican street food including the popular Tlayuda which originated in Oaxaca.

Las Marietas Restaurant & Bar
Offering the perfect blend of local seafood and gourmet delicacies, Marietas Restaurant & Bar is a three-meal eatery that reflects the cultural and culinary diversity of the region. Located adjacent to the Marietas Pool & Lounge, the restaurant features dishes centered around traditional Mexican dishes with Mediterranean seafood-forward traditions. Serving pool guests, the restaurant offers its delectable sips and bites poolside at the terrace as well as the poolside bar.

Marietas pool and beach
This two-story infinity pool is ideal for both family and friends. With an idyllic backdrop that is the pristine landscapes of Punta Mita, the Marietas pool and beach is surrounded by residential loungers, daybeds and cabanas for guests to soak up the sun. Pool-goers will be delighted with exclusive amenities presented by beach butlers such as poolside popsicles and more.

Outdoor wedding spaces
Surrounded by lush greenery, white sands and ocean views, St. Regis Punta Mita offers couples looking to say “I do” the idealistic backdrop for both an intimate gathering or large-scale extravaganza. Expanding its outdoor wedding spaces past the traditional beachfront offering, the resort has added a large lawn area in front of Marietas Restaurant & Bar, perfect for ceremony and reception convenience. Additional wedding options include a 2,600-sq.-ft. ballroom, a Hacienda-style courtyard with views of the Marieta Islands, garden venues and more.

The St. Regis Punta Mita also features two Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses located on 380 acres within the peninsula, six food and beverage dining outlets including the most awarded restaurant on the Mexican Pacific Carolina, and St. Regis Signature rituals including a Bloody Mary ritual and Catch of the Day ritual.
