Malaysia needs visa-on-arrival for travellers from all countries

Malaysia needs to consider providing visa-on-arrival for travelers from all countries in order to remain competitive in the global tourism industry.

This was stated by Tiong King Sing, the tourism, arts and culture minister of Malaysia.

Malaysia also requires thinking about market developments and permitting such initiatives, since the local tourism industry is still recovering from the outcome of the pandemic.

Tiong is assured that the Malaysian authorities are able to take care of upsurge in passengers and maintain guidelines at entry points across the country. Tiong also said that security should not be used as an excuse to impede the entrance of tourists.

Tiong added that it depicts an improper image of Malaysia, by means of not being equipped and greeting the comeback of a large number of tourists in the country.

Tiong further said that he has urged the home ministry to deliberate on the issue of growing visa-on-arrival for all countries without delay, especially China and India, to stop Malaysia from trailing behind its opponents.

Tiong opined that modifications to current immigration procedures and mechanisms need to be carried out along with the revision of local tourism products and facilities to help the tourism industry appeal to tourists in a better way!
