ALTA welcomes DHL Aero Expreso S.A. as a new member airline

Cargo airline DHL Aero Expreso S.A. began operations in 1996 in Panama City and has since expanded its operations with the DHL Express division in the Americas. The company is now taking another step in its expansion by joining the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA).

The company continues to expand its airfreight capacity to meet the growing demand for shipments, mainly from the e-commerce sector. In recent years, demand for shipments has shown unprecedented performance from its customers in the Americas, both in the B2C and B2B segments. As a result, DHL Express, the world's leading express and logistics company that is part of Deutsche Post DHL Group, is carrying out an expansion plan in the Americas of USD 360 million investments between 2020 and 2022.

Recently, the company expanded direct services between Panama, the United States, and Chile with the opening of a Panama - Miami - Santiago route, as well as the new Miami-Viracopos route, which benefits customers who ship between Asia, North America and Brazil by providing better connectivity with Brazil and Central America through the connection in Colombia, which also doubles the export capacity for Colombian customers.

"DHL Aero Expreso S.A. is honored by being part of ALTA. We are proud to be a Latin American airline connecting our continent to DHL's global network and, therefore, to customers worldwide. Our focus is to continue to develop in the Americas. To do so, ALTA and its members are an integral part of the strategy, opening opportunities and creating new relationships while collaborating with friend companies, cutting-edge entities, and authorities open to facilitate the development of our industry. We are grateful for the acceptance of our application and are confident that this is a milestone for us and will surely catapult our vision to a new level," comments Pablo Rousselin, Executive Director and General Manager of DHL Aero Expreso S.A.

"We are very proud to welcome DHL Aero Expreso S.A. to ALTA's family. Cargo has always been a fundamental part of air operation; in fact, 80% of the world's value of goods transported is moved by air. Aviation plays an essential role in supply chains, transporting essential, perishable, and time-sensitive goods that move economies, generate opportunities, and meet urgent needs, even in remote locations. DHL has high standards of customer service in the field of export and import of goods and supplies, is a company that adapts to market changes and wants to continue growing in Latin America and the Caribbean, so we are delighted to start working together on important initiatives to improve operating conditions in the region and generate benefits for the countries and the population. ALTA has a cargo working group that started meetings in 2021 and is gaining more and more strength to meet the needs of this segment. DHL will undoubtedly be a great contribution," says José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA's Executive Director and CEO.

In Panama, DHL Aero Expreso S.A. has its main operational base at Tocumen International Airport. Its fleet is composed entirely of Boeing aircraft registered in Panama, versatile enough to serve multiple markets in its cargo and courier network.
