Air Traffic Passenger Enplanements Up 56% YOY Air Passenger Travel Between the United States and Europe up 99% Data recently released by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) show that in November 2022: U.S.-International air traffic passenger enplanements (APIS/I-92 arrivals + departures) totaled 16.6 million in November 2022, up 56% compared to November 2021. Enplanements reached 90% of pre-pandemic November 2019 volume, up from 87% in October. Originating Non-Stop Air Travel in November 2022 Non-U.S. Citizen Air Passenger Arrivals to the United States from foreign countries totaled 3.67 million, +54% compared to November 2021 and (-24.0%) compared to November 2019. On a related note, overseas visitor arrivals (with stays of 1-night or more in the United States and visiting under certain visa types) (ADIS/ I-94) totaled 1.941 million in November 2022, the thirteenth consecutive month overseas visitor arrivals exceeded 1.0 million. November overseas visitor arrivals reached 66.9% of pre-pandemic November 2019 volume, down from 69.9% in October 2022. (See November I-94 Advance Release https://www.trade.gov/i-94-arrivals-program) U.S. Citizen Air Passenger Departures from the United States to foreign countries totaled 4.383 million, +50% compared to November 2021 and was 3.7% above November 2019. World Region Highlights (APIS/I-92 arrivals + departures) Total air passenger travel (arrivals and departures) between the United States and other countries were led by Mexico 3.024 million, Canada 2.128 million, the United Kingdom 1.326 million, Germany 712,000 and the Dominican Republic 656,000. International regional air travel to/from the United States: Europe continued to strengthen, totaling 4.354 million passengers, up 99% over November 2021, and down only (-13.3%) compared to November 2019. South/Central America/Caribbean totaled 4.166 million, up 21% over November 2021, and up 1.4% compared to November 2019. Asia totaled 1.443 million passengers, up 231% over November 2021, but still down (-51%) compared to November 2019. Top U.S. ports serving international locations were New York (JFK) 2.296 million, Miami (MIA) 1.859 million, Los Angeles (LAX) 1.478 million, Newark (EWR) 1.002 million and San Francisco 902,000. Top foreign ports serving U.S. locations were London Heathrow (LHR) 1.31 million, Toronto (YYZ) 949,000, Cancun (CUN) 827,000, Paris (CDG) 638,000, and Mexico City 628,000.
