São Paulo, November 2022 - Lighter and more acidic, white wines are ideal to be consumed between 6º and 13ºC of temperature, depending on the label. In general, they harmonize with light foods, such as salads, fish and poultry, which combine with the hot summer days that are approaching.
This type of wine has a low amount of tannins, the polyphenols that give the drink an astringency that often “binds the mouth”. “Salivation is stimulated by this dominant acidity in the drink, which comes from the grape fermentation process. There are some that naturally have a marked acidity, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Verdejo and Torrontés”, explains Sandro Martins, commercial manager of the importer Wine to You.

Cuvee Charlemagne Premium Blanc (R$89)
With an alcohol content of 12.5%, Cuvee Charlemagne Premium Blanc is made with a mix of Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Coming from France, the wine has a bright golden look, with aromas of orange, lemon and white flowers. Its palate is very fruity, refreshing and with notes of lemon. Ideal to harmonize with prawns and snacks.
Touches Clochers Autan Limoux Chardonnay (R$260)
A Chardonnay from the slopes of Limoux, located in the heart of Languedoc, in southwestern France. The wines labeled Toques Et Clochers come from four very different terroirs: Autan, Océanic, Méditerranéen and Haut Valée, places where Chardonnay whites express themselves in a very distinctive and peculiar way. Clochers Autan Limoux Chardonnay is from the 2016 vintage, has an alcohol content of 13.5%, pineapple and caramel flavor and aroma of fresh fruits, such as pear and peach, with hints of grapefruit. Its pairing goes well with salads, squid, crab and pasta with clams.
Knock Knock White Blend (R$79)
The white blend version of the Spanish label is made with a mix of Viura and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, has an alcohol content of 11% and has a bright yellow color, aromatic notes of lime and green apple, fresh and fruity taste. The label is perfect for accompanying fish, shellfish and creamy cheeses. It should be tasted at a temperature between 11ºC and 13ºC.
Aoc Bourgogne Montagny Ler Cru (R$389)
This is a wine from French vines on stony soil, which characterize the Chardonnay grape used in Mercurey Ler Cru. With 5 years of aging potential, 6 months of aging in oak barrels and 13.5% alcohol content, the 2018 vintage wine should be consumed at a temperature of 6ºC to 8ºC. With an aroma of white flowers and menthol notes, the wine has a rich palate with hints of honey, almond and hazelnut. It is ideal with grilled chicken and fried fish.
ToquesClochers Castelreng (R$550)
ToquesClochers Castelreng has an alcohol content of 14%, aging potential for 15 years and is matured for 8 months in oak barrels. With a pale yellow tone with green reflections, its aroma is floral with sweet spices. On the palate, it is marked with floral and citrus notes. Pairs very well with fish and poultry in white sauce.
