Cyprus Airways notes positive growth for September 2022, driving an extended summer season

LARNACA, CYPRUS - Cyprus Airways announced today its traffic results for September 22. During this month, the airline operated a total of 267 flights (Sep’21 – 148 flights) and carried a total of 34,868 passengers (Sep’21 – 9,570 passengers), registering a healthy Seat Load Factor (SLF) of 79% (Sep’21 - 50%). A further 108 flights were operated on an ACMI lease on behalf of an operator.

“These results confirm Cyprus Airways’ steady improvement. During Q3 (Jul-Sep ’22) we carried a total of 127,246 passengers and operated over 900 flights, with an average SLF of 79%. We clearly see that the market continues to steadily recover and at this rate we expect that next year we will reach and surpass our 2019 pre-Covid figures. During Q3 our most popular routes were to/from Athens, Beirut, Tel-Aviv and Yerevan and we have also registered a steady and healthy increase in average fares. This augurs well for further investments in our network and aircraft”, said Paul Sies, Chief Executive of the airline.

"We have already added aircraft worth over Eur50 million this year and now we are in a position to add two Airbus A320 aircraft to our fleet and as recently announced we intend to operate our Summer 23 schedule of which 11 destinations with at least 43 weekly scheduled flights are already on sale though our worldwide reservations systems, and several new destinations will be announced soon."

“We plan to continue building on the constant progress registered this year and invest to further strengthen our operation. In this regard we have just launched a recruitment drive for First Officers, Captains and Cabin Crew members to join our team”, added Capt. Georgiou the airlines COO and accountable manager.

“We are committed to boost tourism demand and facilitate travel to and from the Island. We are proud to be the only airline in Cyprus serving the Cypriot market year-round. We are not an opportunistic carrier offering services only during peak months. As sole Cypriot Carrier we are here to stay working for the benefit of the Cypriot economy and its Tourism industry,” concluded Mr Sies.
