Three best things to do in Singapore

Despite its small size compared to other countries in Asia, Singapore has a lot to offer travelers from all over the world, whether you’re a budget traveler or want a luxurious experience. Regardless of your interest, there’s something for everyone in the city-state, and given how small the country is, you can see a lot in just a few days.

Singapore is undoubtedly one of the safest places to visit, especially if you’re a solo or female traveler. Below, we list some of the best things to do while you’re traveling across Singapore and what to pack with you. Hate packing? We’ve got you covered, try using a tech survival kit and other checklists to ensure you don’t forget anything important.

Three things to do in Singapore

1. Take in the sights of the bay at Marina Bay Sands
You’ve probably heard of or seen the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel. This building is a must-visit for any tourist coming to Singapore for sightseeing, shopping, and eating. However, you must be a hotel guest if you want to take a dip in the infinity pool on the top floor. You can, however, pay a small fee to access the SkyPark Observation Deck right next to the pool.

While the views look spectacular during the day, they’re even more impressive at night when the weather isn’t too warm. Many locals suggest taking a stroll around the entire Marina Bay promenade in the evening as well because there are often light shows, and the scenery looks so much better with various office buildings lit up.

The best part is that Marina Bay is close to various other places of interest like Gardens by the Bay, The Fullerton Hotel, and the Esplanade. If you’re planning on walking all over in the daytime, remember to slap on some sunscreen to avoid getting sunburnt.

Temperatures in Singapore can go up to 34 degrees Celsius, so be sure to wear comfortable and airy clothes when you visit.

2. Eat like a local
What’s most unique about Singapore is that it’s home to four major races. As such, we’re fortunate to have so many different types of food available. If you’re short on time, there are three neighborhood you should hit up, they are Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam. In these areas, you’ll find food and other memorabilia that are unique to the various races in Singapore.

If you’re heading to one of the hawker centers and small shops, having cash on hand is always a good idea, as some of these places might not accept contactless payments. You’ll also want to make sure to include a portable charger and other tech items when packing your necessities to Singapore.

3. Shop for interesting finds
As mentioned earlier, Singapore has plenty to offer tourists across various budgets, which also applies to the shopping experience. There are plenty of different malls in the iconic Orchard Road that stock luxury items from known brands but there are also small independent shops and retailers. You could also head to Design Orchard to shop for locally-designed items.

There’s plenty to do in Singapore if your stay includes a weekend, you could always look for things to do over the weekends, too. Most recently, Singapore has removed the need for mask wearing indoors but requires people to wear masks on public transport and at various medical facilities.
