New L.A. hotel opens in 100-year-old bank building

The Hotel Per La opened last week in downtown Los Angeles in the former Bank of Italy. The hotel is 12 stories and includes more than 4,000 pieces of art in both guestrooms and common spaces.

New Italian restaurant opens at Calif. hotel

The Toll House Hotel in Los Gatos, Calif., now has two restaurants: Dio Deka and the new Due Dieci Cucina Italiana. Chef Nikos "Nicko" Moulinos said the new restaurant does all breads and pastas in-house, sources 90% of its products locally and imports its Italian olive oil and a couple other products through G. Gusti.

Resort in Phoenix unveils plans for pool expansion

The first phase of the $80 million renovation of JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Arizona has been finished and includes a new flagship restaurant, new amenities and upgraded rooms. The second phase of the project will expand the pool area at a cost of $18 million and feature the Sky Island adults-only area with a hot tub, an infinity pool, lounge seating and four cabanas, as well as new water slides and a family zone with a splash pad, a lazy river and a playground.
