New Brunswick’s provincial service commissions to uphold tourism

New Brunswick’s provincial service commissions will soon be accountable for upholding tourism in their areas of the province.

These alterations are part of far-reaching local government improvements that are providing new authorities and duties to the 12 regional service commissions (RSC) and will see the boards become answerable for increasing a multi-year tourism plan for assisting the tourism industry to grow and expand.

Ryan Donaghy, the local government deputy minister said that this is going to be a development where each region is going to take a local tactic for tourism elevation. What they will capitalize in that will depend on each region, contingent on the significances.

The province’s RSCs comprise a region’s mayors and local service district representatives, focusing on organizing services like solid waste collection. However, local government improvements will now assign the boards with regional financial growth and allow them to negotiate cost distribution for regional conveniences.

Donaghy said that the department wishes to enlarge the prospects for regional collaboration and added that the Acadian Peninsula Regional Service Commission is already playing an active role in tourism marketing for some time.
