Brent Hill, the chief executive, Tourism Fiji, explained that the archipelago in August welcomed over 70,110 visitors.
Hill said that it’s unbelievably good to see the numbers coming in and that’s the evidence of the hard work of the industry as a whole.
Brent said that Fiji Airways and their airline partners, adding hotel capacity to hotels providing an excellent service and tourism operators providing an outstanding experience and Tourism Fiji is marketing this South Pacific country globally.
He said that the message is getting out, collectively, that Fiji is that ideal place as they come out of Covid, to enjoy an amazing vacation!
According to Hill, the occupancy rate continued to be powerful and at present, the domestic tourism sector tracks above 2019 levels which Hill labeled as ‘incredibly good’.
He stated that local properties are doing great and through mid-Sep it will be above 80%.
The team of Tourism Fiji is keeping no stones unturned world over.
He added that from the work, they are experiencing great growth; the teams are doing well with the market which speaks Chinese globally, from Canada and from Europe which is slowly picking up.
He also said that from the South Pacific, they’ve started to see some good numbers as countries open up.
Hill said that it was good to see growth outside the usual Australia, New Zealand and U.S. markets as well.
