Main Street Hospitality appoints two leaders

Main Street Hospitality has appointed Joe Gallo, president, and Terry Coughlin, hospitality leadership coach, to its leadership team. In their new roles, Gallo and Coughlin are responsible for the independent hospitality group and its portfolio of eight properties located throughout the Northeast, which includes theRed Lion Inn in the Berkshires, Hammett’s Hotel in Newport, Porches Inn at Mass MoCA and Canoe Place Inn & Cottages, set to open this summer in Hampton Bays, Long Island.

As president, Gallo leads strategic growth initiatives, development projects, strategic capital and acquisitions, financial relationships and investor development, and is also responsible for Main Street’s operations and administration.

“After five years of working with Main Street as a strategic advisor, this is an incredible opportunity to support even more directly the company’s strategic growth and support of our esteemed hotel owners,” said Gallo.

Gallo brings 30 years of financial and management expertise to his role. As managing director in the Global Investment Bank at Citigroup in New York, Milan and Boston, as well as other CFO and executive roles, Gallo has worked with numerous lodging companies such as Marriott, Hilton, Starwood, Wyndham, Doubletree and Meristar. During Gallo’s free time, he enjoys to hike, take road trips and cook in his home of Tyringham, MA.

Coughlin, hospitality leadership coach, has been involved in hospitality since his very first job at age 16. He worked in various restaurants throughout high school and college but truly recognized his love for the industry in 1997 when he was hired as a waiter at Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Tavern. He then spent the next 23 years working for Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, ultimately earning the title of managing partner and director of operations. During his time with the group, he helped conceptualize and open four restaurants, oversaw seven different businesses and mentored dozens of young leaders. Coughlin and his family moved up to Great Barrington, MA, where they own and operate Granville House, a five-guestroom Bed & Breakfast. In his spare time, he also continues to share his passion for all things service related as a hospitality leadership coach.

“For many years, I’ve been such a fan of Main Street Hospitality, experiencing their excellence as a guest. It’s truly a thrill to now have the opportunity to work with the team, sharing my passion for this wonderful industry with likeminded professionals,” said Coughlin.

“The addition of Gallo and Coughlin to our Main Street Hospitality team is a privilege as we continue to develop and grow within the independent hospitality space,” said Sarah Eustis, CEO, Main Street Hospitality. “As a company, we are deeply committed to genuine experiences for our guests and remarkable results for our partners and Joe and Terry will help us further that mission.”

In partnership with the executive team and the performance, sales and operations functions, Gallo and  Coughlin will work to amplify the identity of Main Street Hospitality’s individual properties, and further the company’s mission to deliver unparalleled experiences through an authentic approach to hospitality that centers around the communities in which the hotels exist.
