A space tech company based in China explained that it had recently signed a cooperation agreement with the largest state-owned travel corporation of the country. It’s the sign that the onset of domestic space tourism industry is quite close by.
With China Tourism Group, CAS Space has signed a strategic cooperation agreement, where they have pledged to advertise and market the application of commercial space technology jointly and develop a new space economy like space tourism.
Yang Yiqing, CAS Space chairman was quoted as saying that both of them will contribute toward positive donations in helping the country to make progress from a large space power to an even more powerful space power. Also, Yang told the China Daily on Wednesday, a state-administered media outlet, in an interview that the company from next year would begin to carry out sub-orbital test flight sessions. Only after conducting several of these trips that the company would be able to open its space tourism services for greater public, he said.
At present, the domain of space tourism is under control of the western companies, be it sub-orbital trips offered by Virgin Galactic, where the space craft reaches around 100kms altitude, providing passengers a few minutes in space.
Besides, there are expensive orbital trips which have been developed by SpaceX. Here, the space craft reaches an altitude of almost 600kms, keeping the passengers in space for few more days.
