Greece among top-5 countries with best value for money holidays for Brits in 2022

Greece is among the countries that offer the best value for money for British tourists in the summer of 2022, according to a survey by Post Office Travel Money.

The survey was published on May 28 and is based on the answers given by travelers about the experiences they experienced during their recent vacation, highlighting the destinations that offered them the best value for money.

Post Office researchers polled 2,000 tourists on 26 foreign destinations they’d previously visited, asking them to rate the holiday hotspots on cost-effectiveness.

As well as recording tourists’ perceptions of costs abroad, the research investigated how far their money would stretch in dozens of different travel destinations.Greece appears to have the third-best value for money, among the top 5 destinations highlighted by travelers. Greece placed third out of 26 countries, with an 89 percent score, closely followed by Portugal (88 percent), Turkey (88 percent), and Mexico (85 percent).

Thailand, Malta, and Cyprus also made the top ten.The all-inclusive resorts in the Greek islands but also on the Greek mainland offer in many cases the best prices. Holidays in Crete in June cost less than 50 pounds a night.

The other destinations elected by travelers are Spain (first place), Canary (2nd), Portugal (4th), and Turkey (5th).

Not everywhere was so popular, with many destinations failing to crack the 50 percent approval rating.Just across the border from Spain, France scored poorly, ranking 22nd out of 26 destinations. Italy fared slightly better, placing 17th.

Luxurious Dubai was near the bottom of the table with 44 percent, pipped for a bottom spot by pricey Scandinavia (42 percent).
