Kashmir witnessing continuous dip in foreign visitors

 

Once busy with foreign tourists, Kashmir is now seeing foreign visitors staying away due to adverse travel advisories and pandemic situation. Although the number of foreigners visiting Kashmir has witnessed a prolonged dip, in the last three years especially witnessed a sharp decline.

As per the official figures, in 2019, 33,779 foreign tourists visited Kashmir. However, the number plunged to 3897 in 2020 due to the pandemic and further declined to 1615.

This year, till the end of February, more than 500 foreign tourists have visited Kashmir. However, compared to the percentage of foreign tourists visiting Kashmir, a continuous decline has been witnessed.
