Bergen International Literary Festival

Literature lovers welcomed a new literary festival in 2019! Norway’s Bergen International Literary Festival. Celebrating both non-fiction and fiction, it hosted writers from 25 countries in 2020. Apart from readings, author talks and open mikes, there are also youth programs to encourage young writers. While the festival is still young, it’s definitely helping us understand how literature has evolved over the decades.
Sauti za Busara

Sauti za Busara is more than ‘just’ a music festival which is held in Stone Town during February. It provides a platform to local and international artists to share the same stage. With live musical performances, specific workshops, parties and other events, this pan-African music festival promotes Zanzibar as a global destination for cultural tourism.
Taiwan Lantern Festival

The Taipei Lantern Festival is held in commemoration of the first lunar month of the Chinese New Year. It is marked by lanterns (floats) dedicated to the year’s animal. The theme of the festival also changes to reflect the neighbourhood of the festival ground. During the full moon, the locals light paper lantern and let them float off into the sky. They believe it will bring them good luck.
