ALTA welcomes a new member airline: Servicios Aéreos Nacionales S.A

The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is pleased to announce the entry of SANSA (Servicios Aéreos Nacionales S.A.) as its new member airline.

SANSA is a regional carrier in Costa Rica based at the Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, founded in 1978 to exclusively serve domestic flights in the Central American country.

Currently, SANSA has a network of domestic routes in 13 Costa Rican cities. Most of the routes connect to coastal towns such as Tamarindo, Nosara, Tambor and Quepos, as well as to tourist destinations near the national parks of Costa Rica, such as Liberia and La Fortuna, Puerto Jimenez, Drake, among others.

“I am very pleased to welcome SANSA, an airline from our region that received its ISSA safety certification during our most recent ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum in Bogotá. SANSA joined the ISSA Program to receive the necessary training to obtain its certification and contribute to continuing to raise safety standards in the region. Costa Rica is a country with amazing natural resources and we have a great opportunity to stimulate tourism through aviation. We are together and we are proud to work with SANSA to continue working to develop air connectivity”, commented José Ricardo Botelho, CEO of ALTA.

In 2011, the company was recognized as the best airline in Costa Rica by CANATUR and as the company most committed to the development of tourism in the South Pacific area. After 43 years of operation, SANSA is perceived as one of the most important airlines in Central America. Its fleet is made up of 9 Cessna 208 Grand Caravan aircraft, including 4 EX model.
