World Taxi Prices: The most expensive airports to hail a ride

 

With travel beginning to open up around the world, people will be budgeting for a long-awaited vacation. But short of parachuting out of the plane, sometimes there is no reasonable option but to take a taxi from the airport.

 
So which taxi rides will make the biggest dent in your holiday budget?
 
FleetLogging.com has discovered the airports that charge the most for a taxi ride to the city centre, and the airport taxis that charge the most per kilometre.

Here are the top headlines to come out of the study:

  • The airports with the highest taxi fare in the world are Hiroshima and Oita in Japan – both airports have an average taxi fare of US$165.
  • The cheapest airport-city taxi ride costs a dollar and is found at Cadjehoun Airport in Cotonou, Benin.
  • The priciest taxi per kilometer is at Bodø Airport, Norway ($9.38/km).
  • America’s most expensive airport taxi takes you from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for $107.50
  • The UK's most expensive taxi is from London Southend airport to the capital's centre and would set you back US$146 (£104 GBP, making it the third most expensive in the world & the most expensive in Europe.
