A new study by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts has revealed the top 50 most popular viewpoints for van enthusiasts in the UK and across the globe.
The hashtag #Vanlife has seen a staggering +1575% growth in interest online since 2015, and in the UK there has been a 57% year on year rise in people purchasing commercial vehicles for personal use. With the world starting to open up again post-pandemic, the alternative lifestyle of committing to a home on wheels is expected to become even more popular.
With this in mind, car and van leasing provider, Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, have analysed Instagram data, Google ratings and petrol prices to reveal the UK’s (and the world’s) most popular vanlife viewpoints.

1. Mourne Mountains in County Down are the UK’s most popular #vanlife viewpoint
Taking the top spot on our list is Northern Ireland's Mourne Mountains, located in County Down which managed a 100 viewpoint score. As an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, it has also racked up 121,243 Instagram hashtags and a 4.9 rating on Google, alongside an affordable petrol price of 124p per litre it’s the UK’s premium vanlife location.
2. North Wales’ Snowdonia takes second place
In second, another mountainous region, Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. With a 4.9 score on google, 939,122 hashtags on Instagram, and a petrol price of 132p it's viewpoint score is a respectable 96.00.
3. The Isle of Sky is the third most popular #vanlife viewpoint in the UK
The Isle of Skye comes in third, with a 95.20 viewpoint score overall. This is down to its 4.8 google score, 125p petrol cost and its 789,563 insta tags.
