Disney Dream Test Cruise Rescheduled last This Weekend

Late last month, Disney Cruise Line was set to operate its first simulation sailing aboard Disney Dream out of Port Canaveral, Florida ahead of its regular cruise resumption.

The scheduled two-night June test sailing was canceled due to “inconsistent COVID-19 test results,” which ultimately turned out to be negative. Now, the cruise line has confirmed that Disney Dream‘s test cruise has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 17.

Simulated sailings are currently required by the CDC for ships that will not be sailing with at least 98 percent of crew members and 95 percent of guests fully vaccinated. Given the fact that Disney Cruise Line carries a lot of families with young children who cannot get the vaccine, that type of arrangement for a line like Disney would not be logical.

Passengers aboard this simulated cruise will be volunteers that are employees within the Walt Disney Company, which they call cast members.

The cast members will board from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday, marking the first simulated sailing to depart from Port Canaveral. The port says that it expects to host other test cruises before Carnival Cruise Line’s new ship Mardi Gras departs on July 31, which will be Port Canaveral’s first revenue cruise since the industry shutdown.
