As vaccination campaigns finally start getting momentum in some countries, a substantial part of the world still remains off-limits to international tourists. As per a new report from the UNWTO, one-third of destinations around the world remain closed with just over half of them off-limits for 40 weeks.
An additional 34% of the destinations remain partly closed, with 32% requiring testing or quarantine and just 2% having their restrictions lifted. The UNWTO report states that out of 69 destinations that have completely closed their borders, 30 are in the Asia-Pacific region, 15 in Europe, 11 in Africa, ten in the Americas and three in the Middle East.
