KLCC Hosts First Consumer Exhibition in 2021

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre successfully hosted its first major consumer exhibition in 2021, Malaysia International Home Renovation + Interior Design (REX Expo) 2021 from 19 to 21 March 2021.

The Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor, shared, “We are delighted to have the REX Expo 2021 as our first public exhibition as the industry re-opens after the Movement Control Order (MCO) 2.0 restrictions were lifted. We would like to thank our long-time client and all the exhibitors and visitors for placing their trust and confidence in us as well as for complying with our stringent new norm event standard operating procedures (SOPs).”

The REX Expo, a regular household show at the Centre since 2015, held its first event since the Covid-19 pandemic after multiple postponements.

“We have exhibited at the Centre before and are very familiar with the Centre’s general safety standards. The additional measures that are in place due to Covid-19 were executed smoothly and efficiently without disrupting our moving-in and set-up. There was no long queue for exhibitors or contractors during registration and the security team were extremely strict in ensuring we followed the required procedure and that in itself makes us more confident to be here at the Centre for these three days,” said Jeffrey Yang, Creative Director, Art of Tree, one of the exhibitors.

The Centre, together with its industry partners, has been actively advocating and demonstrating how events are being planned for, and executed, with all the pertinent health and safety measures in place, stringent SOP compliance and the provision of a safe and controlled event environment that purpose-built venues provide. This has encouraged government and stakeholders over the past year to allow phased resumption of meetings and events. The Malaysian industry cautiously rejoiced when the government lifted its restrictions on events for the fourth time allowing the entire supply chain to operate since 5 March 2021.

“The Centre is known for its uncompromised requirement on compliance with SOPs even before the Covid-19 pandemic, so, considering the current situation, we knew that the condition to observe and follow the new norm standards would be even more stringent and we were right. In fact, that’s the primary deciding factor for us to participate in this year’s REX Expo at the Centre,” shared A.W. Yong, Senior Sales Manager, Beyond Arena.

A first-time exhibitor, Joe Tan, Natural Manager at Cuckoo International, said, “We noticed that there are more visitors here who are serious buyers compared to malls or other commercial venues. We have already made 100% more sales on our first day compared to the other shows we participated in before.”

REX Expo is the one-stop expo for homeowners with a wide range of inspiring interior design ideas, latest trends on display, renovation tips and solutions from the experts, and variety of innovative home-related products.
