The tourism sector of both countries has been hit hard by the year-long COVID pandemic. Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades shared that he expected the deal to go into effect on April 1. He also said he was interested in getting more details about a possible COVID-19 treatment being developed by Israel’s Ichilov hospital.
He also shared that Cyprus would participate in upcoming clinical trials. Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu added that the move will open up the possibility of restarting tourism in the near future for Cypriot tourists in Israel and Israeli tourists in Cyprus.
